Life In Letters 3

Dear Pinterest,

You make me feel crafty when I've hardly lifted a glue gun, like an athlete when I can hardly jog for one minute, and like an inspiration although hardly anything eloquent comes out of my mouth. Also, I never realized there were that many uses for glow sticks. They seem to have so much... purpose now.

Dear Fast Food Restaurants,

Why must you always give your menu items dorky names? Do you think it sounds creative, or do you like to just hear us suffer as we try to say "I'd like the huckleberry hullaballoo" and have you take us seriously?
"Can I have a... urm... sundae?"
"Sure, what kind?"
"A... um... a cutiepatootiesundae?"
"Sorry, you'll need to speak up."
"I WANT A CUTIE PATOOTIE SUNDAE!" *huffs* Don't judge me.

Your frustrated customer,

Dear Whoever it was who Designed Graduation Caps,

It's a square. With a tassel on it. That attaches to your head. Really?

Dear Dancing Little Caesar's Guy,

Your grueling job of dancing around in the hot sun and smelling your own skin baking to medium rare in an embarrassing costume is not in vain. Sometimes all it takes to brighten someone's day is to see some random dancing person on the side of the street.
You're simply awesome. Also, you've got some nice moves.

Dear Shoes,

Thanks for protecting my feet from random icky things on the ground, and for looking so darn cute while doing it.

My life has become a spiraling black hole of doom.

***Warning*** This post may contain sarcasm (which, hallelujah, is the only thing I'm NOT allergic to).

Recently I've been having some health problems. Not serious ones, but ones that are annoying enough to get checked out for. After trying practically everything else, my doctor did some bloodwork to look for allergies. This was about a month ago.

Between now and then, we kept having to reschedule the appointment where we'd go over the results, which I was fine with. My mom and sister are allergic to gluten, and I wanted to remain in my blissfully ignorant world of ramen, ice cream and all things delicious.

Finally, it couldn't be held off much longer. I went in today to go over the results.

Doctor: "So, Kaylee, if you could choose any food you wouldn't want to be allergic to, what would it be?"
Me: "Probably either dairy or wheat."

Oh, how I wish that was all it was.

Because it turns out I came up as allergic to wheat.
And dairy.
And eggs.
And bananas.
And hazelnuts.
And pineapples.

Basically, I'm allergic to food.

My reaction when I was in his office:

"Oh, wow... aw... shoot..."

My reaction when we got out to the car:

"Omigosh.Omigosh.OMIGOSHMYLIFEISOVERI'MGOINGTOSTARVEWHATAMIGOINGTODO?!?!?!?!"

My thoughts on the way home:
  • Katniss and Peeta ate better than me when they were in the Hunger Games (at least they had bread and cheese!)
  • I have the diet of a bear. (Meat, fish, berries, heck! Let's throw in some tree bark for good measure, too.)
  • Fruit and vegetables aren't very filling. I'm going to be so hungry that I'll be gnawing at my own limbs (but chances are I'm allergic to those, too...)
  • My precious, beautiful, flawless Nutella...
Somewhere in the midst of this I might have possibly gone through the 5 stages of grief.

Also, once my mom hit the freeway, one of the first things we saw (I kid you not) was a giant billboard with bananas and pineapples on it.

I'm trying to look at the bright side. (Yes, there actually is a bright side).
It's actually a good thing that it turned out I had allergies, or they would've started running tests for scarier things that would explain my symptoms (problems with my pancreas or liver were a couple they would've checked for).
Also, he said that there's a chance that I just ate too much wheat, dairy, eggs, and hazelnuts (hello, nutella sandwiches!), so it might be irritating my stomach. So if I go off of them for a couple weeks, I might just need to limit them instead of eliminate them. (Phew).

It's still going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life. I'll probably be living off of clementines, tears, and excess body fat.

On a slightly happier note... how was everyone's Easter? (Haven't gotten around to writing about it yet... maybe this week. :) Hope everyone had a great day!

2 Birthdays

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas!!!

Mine was pretty good. :)

It started out just about the same as it always does... people groggily stumbling down the stairs for our annual picture on the staircase.

My Grandparents came out to watch us open presents.
...And yes, despite the fact that we had to leave a couple waffles out for Santa because we didn't have time to make cookies, he still came. ;)

...And as far as the presents go, I didn't do too bad this year. ;) (THANKS EVERYONE!)
I got the coolest leather-bound Bible, NKJV, with silver pages (this is what it looks like from the outside...)

A couple of my favorite movies ("Sherlock Holmes," and "27 Dresses."), 5 new diaries to indulge my writing addiction, and this little baby riiiight here:
It's amazing. :D

Also... Kyla got me this for my Secret Santa gift:
I totally love her music the more I listen to her. :D Her voice is so cool!

Ok, my bragging is over with. :D

After present-opening we had a HUUUUGE brunch, and then we went to my grandparents' house. :)
And my mom's cousin James came to visit, too.
...and, as the title suggested, our family celebrated 2 birthdays yesterday.
I think you can guess who the first person's birthday was... ;)

But the second birthday was my sister, Karissa's.
She turned FIFTEEN yesterday. O_o I still find that really weird, since I still vividly remember this:

Also, it seemed like yesterday *I* was fifteen. Pretty soon I'll be all old, covered in wrinkles and sitting in a creaky old rocking chair in some retirement home, fighting with my roommate over a game of checkers........

But I'm getting ahead of myself. :P

She had a good birthday. :) She got her greenbean casserole for dinner (her favorite), and...
She got a cellphone.
I'm not sure, but I think she likes it... ;)

So yeah. Christmas/Karissa's birthday= Awesome. :D

Also... If you've made it to the end of this post, I commend you. :P

^Those cheeks. O_O
